Today marks the anniversary of Gram Parsons death. Below is the link to the KBCS radio archive where the curious will find yesterday’s big show (9/18/2011). The first hour spotlights Gram’s influences, the second hour spotlights Gram’s legacy. The third hour is a birthday nod to Hank Williams. Listen to it. Or don’t.
In other radio news I’m filling in for Rus Thompson on Road Songs Tuesday night from 9 – 11 PM. As of this writing you’ll hear music by Gram Parsons, Steve Earle, Sera Cahoone, The Knitters, Mickey Newbury, Iris Dement, Lindsay Fuller, Moe Provencher, Jim Lauderdale and Fred Eaglesmith to just name a lot. But hey, it’s a two hour show and it’s on tomorrow, so really who can say what you’ll hear.
While we’re on the subject of anniversaries of guys who died too young I’ll spin some Steve Goodman Tuesday as well. He was 36.
